Renovation of the existing National Guard Armory which is located in Fayette Alabama, consisted of a major demolition and renovation of existing spaces. There were Asbestos containing materials that had to be abated and ACM clearances reached prior to the balance of demolition could take be achieved. Balance of demolition included vinyl composition flooring, all ceiling grid and tile, all ceramic and quarry tile, all ductwork, light fixtures and many of the existing doors and hardware were removed. Kitchen equipment was to be removed and cleaned and re-installed. Existing bathrooms were also demolished so a new and larger battery of men’s and women’s bathroom, showers and locker rooms could be added. The existing firing range had to have lead abated in this area, so a new weapon vault could be built. A new workout room was added for the use of the soldiers that were stationed at this facility could be used. New HVAC systems with integrated controls that could be monitored and maintained at the headquarters building was installed. Along with all new LED lay in light fixtures installed throughout this renovated facility for a better lighting and more economical package. New hardware was installed for all the doors that were not replaced in their entirety. A new precast flammable storage building was installed at the rear of the renovated complex. New loading dock and ramps were also built for easier operational procedures in loading and off-loading their specialized equipment for quick deployment if necessary. Asphalt parking lots and drives that were failing due to heavy trucks and equipment were replaced with new concrete drives and parking lots for their staging of their equipment.
