This project consists of separate areas at the Sand Mountain Parks. The Recreation Center is approximately 80,000 square feet. The gymnasium and natatorium is a large pre-engineered metal building with structural steel framing for the second-floor area. The fitness and administration wing is a two-story structural building. There is an outdoor aquatics area, outdoor restrooms, ticket booths, concession areas, parking lots, multiple playgrounds and pavilions, and an amphitheater.
The gymnasium has four basketball courts on the first level and a walking track on the second floor, as well as a gym storage room at the rear of the building.
The natatorium first floor has an Olympic size competition swimming pool, men’s and women’s wet lockers and restrooms, a pool stage, aquatic manager’s office and two party rooms. There is also a large pool mechanical room at the rear of the building. The natatorium second floor consists of two racquetball courts and a battery of men and women’s restrooms, a balcony with bleacher seating for spectators to overlook the competition pool.
The fitness and administration wing, first floor, has the cardio fitness area with a large men and women’s locker rooms. This wing includes a two-story entry foyer, offices, kitchen, indoor and outdoor food service area, lifeguard office, and food storage area. The second floor of the fitness and administration wing consists of fitness and strength training, two multipurpose areas and a balcony overlooking the outdoor aquatics area.
The Outdoor Aquatics area consists of an 800-foot lazy river with zero entry access, two water slides, a five lane outdoor competition pool, a large splash pad area, an interactive stream, and strategically placed shade structures, hammocks, and numerous chairs are around the pool area.
The outdoor areas include restrooms, ticket booths, concession areas, and multiple parking areas. There are different parking lots for different areas to accommodate all facility patrons. There is a playground, a pavilion for large gatherings, and two Gaga ball pits.
The entire site is landscaped with numerous types of trees, grasses, bushes, sod and other plantings.
The Amphitheater has a large stage area with attached green rooms with restrooms and a large storage room. The entrance of the Amphitheater has an entry pavilion that contains restrooms and concession stands. There is also a VIP Concession and VIP Pavilion. The Amphitheater contains tiered seating to accommodate a large number of people. This large playground area that includes a play stage for children.
Behind the Amphitheater is a concrete parking lot and loading docks for the performers to use for easy parking and unloading.
